This paper presents the "Equivalent Window Method" for evaluating the spatial resolution and accuracy of satellite altimetry-derived gravity anomalies. The method compares shipborne gravity data with satellite altimetry data, computes standard deviations under different smoothing window sizes, and determines the minimum point of the fitted curve as the "segment equivalent window." Using 451,000 km of shipborne data (3,357 segments) from the Western Pacific and two satellite models (UK EGM and US SS22), the results show that EGM data correspond to ~10.6–11.0 km equivalent windows, SS22 to ~8.3–9.4 km, with both achieving ~2 mGal accuracy and showing isotropic characteristics. The study concludes that such satellite data can support 1:1,000,000-scale mapping with 5 mGal contour intervals. The appendix details the three-observation-set variance decomposition method used to separate shipborne and satellite data errors.
